Also discussed are primary care aspects such as the management of flares, monitoring of disease modifying drugs (DMARDs) and the precautions that need to be taken for patients using biologic therapy. It will also discuss the wider effects that IBD can have on a patient\u2019s life and the holistic support that GPs can offer.\u00a0 Reference is made throughout the module to NICE guidance and standards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learning Outcomes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Upon successful completion of this course delegates will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Know how to investigate for IBD in patients with lower GI symptoms and consider the likely differential diagnoses<\/li>\n<li>Be aware of the extra intestinal manifestations of IBD<\/li>\n<li>Be able to manage flares of IBD and know about the range of medications used to treat IBD<\/li>\n<li>Know which professionals make up an IBD multidisciplinary team<\/li>\n<li>Be aware of the long-term complications of IBD<\/li>\n<li>Be aware of the impact that IBD can have on the patient and their family, including social issues such as the ability to work and the ways that primary care and the IBD team can offer support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Course Duration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Approximately 30 minutes<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trainer\/Facilitator <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is an RCGP course.\u00a0 It was developed in partnership with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crohnsandcolitis.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Crohn&#8217;s and Colitis UK<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and CIRC<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date\/Time\/Venue <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As this is e-learning \u00a0it is available at any time<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is free of charge to access.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Booking Process\/Additional Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To access this podcast please visit \u2013 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/elearning.rcgp.org.uk\/course\/view.php?id=271\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IBD Course<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This course is 30 minutes in duration, worth a minimum of 0.5 credits.
