The NHS Clinical Governance Team recommends that all staff undertaking this role have specific training.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course Aim: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This course will outline the role of the chaperone and when clinicians should utilise them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learning Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Upon successful completion of this course delegates will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Define what is meant by the term &#8220;chaperone&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Describe what an\u00a0&#8220;intimate examination&#8221; is<\/li>\n<li>Explain why chaperones need to be present<\/li>\n<li>Discuss the legal issues &#8211; the rights of the patient<\/li>\n<li>Explain how to deal with special situations<\/li>\n<li>Describe the chaperone&#8217;s role and responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>Gain experience of the kinds of equipment and examinations you may see<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Trainer: <\/strong>Kay Keane, Practice Manager, Independent Trainer and Practice Manager at an Urban Village Medical Practice<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date\/Time\/Venue:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thursday 19th March 2026, 9am &#8211; 11am, MS Teams<\/p>\n<p>Please note these sessions may be recorded and shared with others working across Greater Manchester in Health &amp; Social Care.\u00a0 If you attend these sessions, we will assume, you consent to the event being recorded and shared.\u00a0 If you have any concerns around this please email\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><a href=\"mailto:gmicb-sto.learningdevelopment@nhs.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gmicb-sto.learningdevelopment@nhs.net.<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The maximum cost to attend this session will be \u00a327.50pp, this cost could be reduced if we receive a high number of bookings (please see further details in booking information).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Booking Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bookings for this course should be made via email &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><a href=\"mailto:gmicb-sto.learningdevelopment@nhs.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gmicb-sto.learningdevelopment@nhs.net<\/a><\/strong><\/span> from either the Practice Manager or Lead GP confirming the names, roles and contact details of those that require places.
